The 'DANK Dancers of the German-American Society of Tulsa were the hosts this year in their beautiful club house: a large church that has been lovingly preserved and converted to an exceedingly efficient German club.
The building has everything a club could wish for - a beautiful ballroom with stained glass windows, high ceilings, a wonderful parquet floor and a stage; an impressive entry hall, a library and a restaurant style kitchen; a 'Ratskeller' with a smaller dance floor and meeting rooms; a room for bridal parties to change; assorted storage rooms, a generous parking lot and a separate building for offices.
All of this is maintained by the dedicated and untiring efforts of members of the organization.
However, the catalysts are Carol and Don Wright whose energy and vision keeps this dynamic organization moving forward.
There were craft workshops and the popular tag sale organized by Roseann Gehauf (Edelweiss Folk Dancers, Denver, CO). The gala banquet, prepared by a group of ladies who proved to be excellent German cooks, was followed by an auction, conducted by professional autioneer, Don Wright.
Brook Wilson of Virginia modeled clothes with style and grace and people were able to acquire some interesting and valuable articles.
Dr. Wolfgang Schlüter, together with his son Sören provided music and with his partner Ingrid taught us dances from the Heather District in Germany.
It was a very well aorganized and rewarding weekend.
