2005 Seminar: Historic Dances in and around Munich

Ingeborg Heinrichsen

Geretsried, Bavaria, Germany

22-24 July 2005

Our presenter was Ingeborg Heinrichsen of Geretsried Bavaria. Mrs. Heinrichsen is the director of the 'Tanzkreis München' which recently changed its name to 'La Morusca' derived from the name of the church in which the dancers meet.

The workshop found the Federation back at Folklore Village in Dodgeville Wisconsin. At the workshop attendees learned traditional Landlers and Mazurkas as well as several group dances. The workshop was preceeded by a sharing session on the topic of teaching children.

Saturday night's program was given over to community dancing and Ehrentänze. Downstairs, a collection of 20 German folk costumes were exhibited for those who were interested in getting a close-up look at traditional clothing.
