Elisa's Collection of German Folkdance Music & Books

Below is a partial on-line index to the books and recordings of German (& Austrian, and German minority areas, etc.) folkdance music and dances. This does not include the full text to any item, just enough information to know what content is available in each title. This meets copyright rules and even for non-copyrighted material, someone put an effort into collecting the material and formatting it for easy use and I believe that person should get some reward for his/her efforts.

This set of pages was started due to the large number of questions that people have asked me about "Where can you get ___?" and "What should I buy?" Also from personal experience, shopping based on a title alone is a gamble I prefer not to take as the book too often doesn't have the dances I'm most interested in or the CD only has one track with music to a folkdance.

This list is in a continuous state of development (both in format and content), please stay tuned and be patient. If you would like to help add to this list, please send me an e-mail. Also if you find this list useful, send me a note so I know whether anyone is using it or if the hit counter is just counting people following a lead to see what is there and deciding it wasn't anything they were interested in.

When prices are listed in US$, they are those charged in 1997 by the Buch Bruecke book store. (Prices may have changed, contact the Buch Bruecke yourself for current prices.) Pretty much everything listed at this site and many more books, tapes and videos of folkdance and other subjects from Germany are available at this book store via mail-order, and she takes credit cards. (This is a small plug because the owner is a friend of mine and without her help, my collection would be much smaller. I would also like to thank Carolyn Marquart, Melissa Ingersoll, Shelby Wurth and Andreas Orttenburger for their assistance in enabling me to enlarge my personal collection.)
